Buildings & Projects
Each project in this collection is indexed by building address, construction typology, scope of work, and the material and joinery decisions that governed its execution. The knowledge embedded in Collections I through III is not abstract — it describes work that has been built, in specific rooms, in specific buildings, in New York City.
Projects documented here represent specific solutions to specific architectural conditions at the time of their completion. Because our work is bespoke and because material costs, availability, and building conditions are continuously variable, these profiles illustrate capability and finish standard — they are not templated offerings, current pricing guarantees, or representations of available scope. Every project is uniquely estimated and proposed. Full terms — Introduction
Kitchen, Library, Bar & Full Residence Program
Park Avenue, Manhattan · Pre-War DuplexA full gut renovation combining two pre-war apartments into a single duplex on Park Avenue — kitchen, library, bar, spiral staircase millwork, crown mouldings, concealed bookcases, and closet programs across seven bedrooms. The kitchen is a full painted-cabinet program with center island, marble countertops, and glass-front display cabinetry. The soft furnishings program — custom sectional, loveseats, leather banquette, dining and bar upholstery, drapery across all principal rooms, and seven bedroom programs — was executed in parallel as a single coordinated commission. One of Era's largest compound programs to date.
The kitchen required break-point engineering at every unit: all upper cabinets designed to split at 84" for service elevator access and reassemble with blind fasteners at a joint concealed by the crown rail. The library case was delivered in four sections and joined on-site; the joint behind the rolling ladder rail bracket is the only visible seam. Inset reveals throughout kitchen held to 1/16" ± 1/64" — achieved through a dedicated face frame jig built for this project.
The fuming process was applied to all quartersawn white oak components before any machining that would expose new grain surface. The fuming chamber held components for 72 hours at saturated ammonia concentration, producing the target gray-brown tone. After fuming, components were allowed to off-gas for one week before finish application. Veneer for the library panels was sequence-matched from a single flitch; panels are numbered 1–14 in installation sequence and hung in that order.
- Full kitchen perimeter: 34 linear feet of base and upper cabinetry
- Island: 96" × 48" with waterfall marble top and seating overhang
- Floor-to-ceiling library: 26 linear feet, brass rolling ladder system
- Integrated partner's desk with wire management and monitor riser
- Bar bay: glass storage, ice maker, Sub-Zero wine column, back panel
- Butler's pantry: 14 linear feet with appliance garage and wine storage
- Five custom radiator enclosures integrated with base cabinet profiles
Kitchen, Bar, Bathrooms, Closets & Integrated Systems
Central Park South, Manhattan · High-Rise ResidenceMillwork and integrated systems program across a full-floor high-rise residence on Central Park South — kitchen, bar, five bathroom vanity programs, two closet systems, dual-layer drapery with concealed inset hardware, custom task lighting, and AV and solar shade integration. The bar millwork — dark painted cabinetry with brass trim, floor-to-ceiling Thermador wine storage, and open shelving — anchors the dining zone. The kitchen features a concealed full-height pantry behind a push-to-open panel. Solar shades and AV systems were integrated as part of the capital improvement program. The soft furnishings commission for this residence is documented under Soft Furnishings Projects, SF-P04.
The concealed pantry presents as a continuation of the paneled wall when closed. Push-to-open Hettich hinges actuate a bi-fold opening that reveals 24 linear feet of pantry storage. The challenge: maintaining panel grain continuity across a door that, when open, reveals its edge. The solution was a thickened panel edge in riftsawn oak that reads as a shadow reveal, interrupting the grain at a designed point rather than an arbitrary one.
Linear footage optimization yielded 68 LF of combined hanging, shelving, and drawer storage in 140 SF — versus the 22 LF a standard reach-in system would have provided. The island dresser at the center of the room provides 8 drawers with full-extension Blum Tandem slides and a Calacatta marble top that ties the dressing room material to the kitchen. The proportional scale calibration for the 10'6" ceiling resulted in an upper shelf height of 9'8" — accessible by a pull-out step stool built into the base cabinet at room entry.
- Kitchen perimeter: 28 linear feet base and upper cabinetry
- Island: 84" × 36" with Calacatta Viola marble, flush waterfall
- Concealed pantry: bi-fold, push-to-open, 24 LF storage
- Dressing room: three-wall system, island dresser, mirror cabinet
- 68 linear feet total hanging, shelving, and drawer storage in dressing room
- Custom glass-panel display cabinet at kitchen entry
Kitchen, Millwork & Integrated Systems
SoHo, Manhattan · Loft ConversionA complete millwork program across a gut-renovated full-floor loft in SoHo — kitchen cabinetry in white oak, custom concealed TV cabinet, integrated bar and display unit, home office millwork, elevator panel collaboration, and closet systems throughout. Era designed and specified the full program in collaboration with the building's millwork contractor. The project was the subject of an industry editorial feature. The soft furnishings commission — custom sectional, drapery, upholstered wall panels, custom case pieces, and bedroom program — is documented under Soft Furnishings Projects, SF-P06. Signed and authenticated case pieces from this commission are available by inquiry.
The concealed TV cabinet integrates flush into the millwork wall — closed, it reads as a continuous panel. The mechanism was designed to the specific panel module so the reveal at the opening matches the shadow reveals throughout the wall system. The elevator panels were fabricated to match the residence white oak program exactly — same flitch, same finish, installed by the building's elevator contractor to Era specification.
White oak throughout — frameless construction on all kitchen and storage millwork. Finish is hardwax oil on vertical surfaces; conversion varnish on all horizontal work surfaces. The nightstand cases are high-gloss lacquer over MDF substrate with solid white oak interior — drawer boxes are solid oak with full-extension soft-close slides. Custom brass hardware was cast to Era specification.
- Kitchen cabinetry and panels — white oak, frameless construction
- Marble island with integrated sink
- Custom concealed TV cabinet — flush panel mechanism
- Bar and display unit — glass shelving, dining zone

Dressing Room, Closets, Concealed Storage & Full Residence Program
West Village, Manhattan · Pre-War ApartmentA complete millwork and soft furnishings program across a four-room pre-war apartment in the West Village — primary walk-in dressing room, bedroom closets with integrated desk and storage wall units, kitchen cabinetry, concealed laundry with hidden washer/dryer, and a full living and dining room program. The living room millwork centers on custom vented radiator enclosures combined with floor-level concealed bookshelves and continuous countertop — providing substantial storage for a large book collection while creating usable surface area throughout the room. Entire walls of concealed storage were integrated across the residence. The three-exposure living and dining zone received a multi-layer drapery program with concealed inset hardware and motorized solar shades. The soft furnishings program is documented under Soft Furnishings Projects, SF-P03.
The primary dressing room was converted from a laundry closet — the existing space had no usable storage organization. The new program provides lit shoe shelving, full hanging, drawer storage, and an island dresser in painted cabinetry with brass hardware. The bouclé bench at center is Era upholstery, wall-hung on a French cleat. Painted cabinetry with custom crown detail runs floor to ceiling on three walls.
The radiator enclosures required custom venting geometry — each enclosure was templated to the existing radiator, with a vented top panel and front grille sized to the radiator output. The bookshelf component runs at floor level below the countertop, with adjustable shelving sized for oversized art books. The concealed washer/dryer integration required plumbing coordination before millwork installation — the laundry closet presents as a standard painted panel door from the hallway.
- Primary walk-in dressing room — painted cabinetry, lit shelving, island dresser, converted from storage closet
- Two secondary bedroom closets with integrated desk wall units and concealed storage
- Custom vented radiator enclosures with concealed bookshelf and continuous countertop — living room perimeter
- Full-wall concealed storage — living room and dining room
- Kitchen cabinetry program
- Concealed laundry closet — hidden washer/dryer

Kitchen, Storage, Bedroom & Full Residence Program
Westchester County, New York · Waterfront EstateA multi-level millwork and soft furnishings program across approximately 60% of a 13,000-square-foot waterfront estate in Westchester — kitchen and butler's pantry cabinetry, lower-level storage and wine room systems, four bedroom programs with walk-in closet millwork, custom upholstery and reupholstery throughout, and a full drapery program. The commission spans three floors including a dedicated lower level with wine storage, mud room cabinetry, and laundry systems, and an upper level with primary suite his-and-hers walk-in closets and secondary bedroom programs.
The kitchen program is organized around a dual-island layout with butler's pantry — painted cabinetry throughout with brass hardware and marble countertops. The pantry provides dedicated appliance storage, prep space, and concealed refrigeration. The transition between kitchen and pantry was designed as a single continuous material program — same cabinet profile, same hardware, same countertop material throughout.
The lower level storage program addressed four distinct zones: the wine room, the mud room, the laundry room, and a lower-level bedroom closet. The wine room received a full storage system — temperature-zone organized, with display and utility storage separated. The mud room cabinetry provides built-in bench seating, overhead storage, and dedicated zones for a large family. The laundry room millwork includes full upper cabinetry, folding counter, and concealed appliance housing.

Kitchen, Library, Dining Room & Full Residence Program
Upper East Side, Manhattan · Pre-War Co-opA complete millwork and soft furnishings program across a four-bedroom pre-war co-op on the Upper East Side — among the most material-intensive residential commissions in Era's portfolio. The dining room is defined by full upholstered wall panels in navy fabric with hand-set brass nail-head detail and brass-trimmed upholstered doors — a treatment requiring precise panel templating to existing plaster and coordination of fabric, nail-head, and brass trim as a single unified system. The library received a custom black lacquer floor-to-ceiling case with brass rolling ladder, fabricated in Era's Brooklyn atelier. The kitchen is a grey painted inset program with brass hardware and marble island. A custom dining table, built-in desk with integrated shelving, bathroom vanity millwork, upholstered headboards, reupholstery of significant existing pieces, and a full drapery program complete the commission.
The dining room wall panels were templated to the existing plaster — each panel cut to the room's specific geometry before fabric application. The nail-head pattern was set by hand across all panels and doors, with brass trim at panel borders and door edges. The upholstered doors required a coordinated hinge specification — brass pivots selected to complement the trim without interrupting the fabric face. The panel system runs floor to cornice on three walls, with the fourth wall reserved for the gallery art hang.
The black lacquer library case was fabricated in Era's Brooklyn atelier — floor-to-ceiling height, brass rolling ladder with brass rail at 22 linear feet. The lacquer finish required multiple spray passes with flatting agents between coats to achieve the depth of gloss without surface imperfection at full height. The custom dining table was fabricated to the client's specific dimensions and finish specification — a significant case piece requiring the same joinery standards Era applies to all architectural millwork.
- Full upholstered wall panels — dining room, three walls, floor to cornice, navy fabric
- Hand-set brass nail-head detail across all panels and upholstered doors
- Brass-trimmed upholstered doors with coordinated hinge hardware
- Custom sideboard — fabricated in-house, dining room

Era Interiors is a millwork atelier in New York, NY. We design and fabricate bespoke residential millwork — kitchens, libraries, paneling, closets, and bar systems — for high-end residences in New York City. Every project is fabricated in our own shop and installed by our own crew. We are not architects, engineers, or licensed contractors. Our scope is the millwork itself, from drawing to installed work. Everything else — structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical — belongs to the licensed professionals on your project.
We work directly with interior designers, architects, and homeowners. Our process begins with the construction and material decisions described in Collections I through III — and the projects in Collection IV are the result of that discipline applied to specific rooms, in specific buildings, by specific people who have been making this work together for years.
Kitchen programs begin at $200,000. Full residential programs vary by scope. All figures are historical planning references — not binding estimates; every project is individually quoted. We are glad to have a conversation for any project where the scope and quality tier are consistent with the work shown here and where schedule and capacity align.
